Tom Cambridge put together this awesome 15 minute edit from the footage he collected during his visits from England to PA back in 2007-8. It features a ton of awesome riding in the video from the likes of Brian Foster, Chris Janis, Tom “Robbo” Robinson, Marky Tomasic, Brandon Pundai, Tony Cardona, Clipper, Dave King and many more from the Hunk House era. Edwin Delarosa brought Daniel Benson by my studio a few months back and he really liked the ramp paintings that I had done for the Dizz Hicks project at The Queens Museum. He sent me an email about making a painting for the cover of the new Albion and I was fucking honored to do it. I think The Albion is a great magazine. I decided making a real ramp would be much more raw, and Dan was into it. So keeping with that premise I started to steal all the anti biking signs I could find. I was determined to take these signifiers of negativity and turn them into something positive. I imagine if ramps started getting chained all over NYC, that the landscape would be altered dramatically and people might reconsider posting their funky little anti biking signs. It was a simple exercise of turning lemons into lemonade.
